The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) was transposed into Ireland law as European Union (Accessibility Requirements) Regulations 2023, with enforcement from 28 June 2025.

CCPC / NDA oversees market surveillance and complaint handling in Ireland.
Maximum penalty
€60,000 / 18 months imprisonment — Ireland sets administrative fines for serious or repeated non-compliance. Criminal liability also possible in serious cases.
Who must comply
- Manufacturers of in-scope products placed on the Ireland market.
- Importers and distributors with a Ireland presence.
- Service providers offering covered services (banking, e-commerce, transport, ebooks, audiovisual, e-comms) to Ireland consumers.
- Micro-enterprises (< 10 employees, < €2 million turnover) are exempt for services only.
Steps to compliance in Ireland
- Confirm in-scope status under the Ireland transposition.
- Map your product against EN 301 549 v3.2.1 (WCAG 2.1 AA for web + chapters 5/11/12/13).
- Audit and remediate; pair manual review with automated rule scanning.
- Publish a Ireland-language EAA accessibility statement (Article 13).
- Maintain technical documentation for market surveillance enquiries from CCPC / NDA.
